The "Ultimate Fusion" Casserole
That is an incredibly bold, "surf-and-turf-meets-comfort-food" fusion. To make this work, we’ll treat it as a loaded "sushi-style" bake, using the brown rice and macaroni as a hearty base for those rich proteins and creamy sauces.
The "Ultimate Fusion" Casserole
Prep time: 30 mins | Cook time: 25 mins | Serves: 6
Ingredients
| Category | Ingredients |
| The Base | 2 cups cooked brown rice, 8 oz cooked macaroni noodles |
| The Proteins | 8 large sea scallops, 8 slices thin-cut bacon, 1 lb ribeye or sirloin (cubed) |
| The Cream Sauce | 1 cup heavy cream, 4 oz cream cheese, 1 cup shredded white cheddar/mozzarella blend, ½ cup sour cream |
| The Aromatics | 1 tbsp garlic powder, 1 tbsp onion powder, 2 jalapeños (sliced), 1 bunch chives (chopped) |
| The Garnish | 1 large avocado (diced), Garlic butter (for searing) |
Instructions
Prep the Scallops & Steak: Wrap each scallop tightly with a slice of bacon, securing with a toothpick. In a hot skillet with garlic butter, sear the bacon-wrapped scallops for 2 minutes per side until the bacon is crisp. Remove and set aside. In the same pan, quickly sear the steak cubes until browned but still tender.
Make the White Cream Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream and cream cheese. Whisk until smooth. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, and the shredded cheese blend until melted. Remove from heat and fold in the sour cream.
Assemble the Bake: In a large greased casserole dish, toss the cooked brown rice and macaroni together. Pour 3/4 of the cream sauce over the grains/pasta and mix well. Fold in half of the sliced jalapeños and half of the chives.
Layer & Bake: Arrange the seared steak cubes and bacon-wrapped scallops on top of the mixture. Drizzle the remaining cream sauce over the proteins.
Final Fire: Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes, just until everything is bubbling and hot.
The "Sushi" Finish: Remove from the oven. Top with fresh diced avocado, the remaining fresh jalapeños, and a heavy sprinkle of chives to give it that bright, sushi-bar aesthetic.
A Pro-Tip for Texture
Since brown rice and macaroni have very different "bites," make sure the rice is cooked slightly past al dente so it mimics the softness of sushi rice within the creamy sauce.
Would you like me to suggest a spicy mayo or unagi-style glaze to drizzle over the top for more of that sushi flavor?
